PeopleForBikes is the world’s leading bicycle advocacy organization, uniting the bike industry through our Coalition and Foundation efforts. Our boards and leadership committees — including the PeopleForBikes Coalition Board of Directors, the Bicycle Product Suppliers Association Trade Association Committee (BPSA TAC), and subject-area subcommittees — guide our priorities and shape our strategy.
Board and BPSA TAC members are independent voting leaders who offer critical insight on the policies, programs, and initiatives that help make the U.S. the best place in the world to ride a bike. Supporting their leadership, our subcommittees and working groups, made up of employees from Coalition member companies, set aside competition to collaborate on high-priority topics that drive our shared mission forward.

The BPSA TAC (Bicycle Product Suppliers Association Trade Association Committee) is a group of industry leaders within PeopleForBikes that focuses on pro-business policies, trade, tariffs, industry research and statistics, and developing future industry leaders. As the successor to the original BPSA Board, it works with the PeopleForBikes Coalition to unify the bicycle industry and advance initiatives for suppliers of bicycles, parts, accessories, and services
The Legal, Legislative, and Safety Subcommittee advances, supports, fights, and monitors legislation that can help or hurt bike sales and ridership in the areas of funding for multimodal transportation and infrastructure improvements, bike safety, product compliance, sustainability, manufacturing innovation (including B2V), sustainability initiatives, and public lands. This group also manages the development and improvement of the Owner’s Manual, manages BikesPAC strategy for our work in Washington D.C., and coordinates industry responses to trade and tariff developments.
The Electric Bicycle Subcommittee advances e-bike policies within local, state, and federal governments through the adoption of our model three-class legislation and creating better places to ride e-bikes. Our intent is to expand access to safe places to ride while providing accurate and updated regulatory information to riders, retailers, the industry, and various managing agencies through research, local advocacy work, and resource development.
The Domestic Manufacturing and Supply Chain Working Group brings together industry leaders to diversify and expand U.S.-based bicycle production, assembly, and sourcing. By identifying policy solutions, advocating for manufacturing incentives, and addressing supply chain challenges, the group works to reduce reliance on imports and strengthen domestic capacity.
This group played a key role in shaping the U.S. Bicycle Production and Assembly Act, a bipartisan bill that removes tariff barriers on essential components, making it easier and more cost-effective to build bikes in America.
The Research and Statistics Subcommittee is devoted to growing the bicycle industry through insightful, actionable research. The subcommittee reviews current retail (sell-through) data set on a monthly basis with in-depth meetings to identify and answer the bicycle industry’s most pressing questions.

The Membership, Events, Education, and Marketing Subcommittee ensures the PeopleForBikes Coalition has a robust, diverse, and engaged membership and provides opportunities for the industry to learn, network, and grow. This committee engages with non-members to encourage them to join and improve member benefits. Members will help shape core programming for the bicycle industry.
The Sustainability Working Group advances tactical initiatives to achieve environmental, health, and corporate sustainability goals for the bike industry and its partners. This group may collaborate with other committees, such as Electric Bicycle, eMTB, Domestic Manufacturing or outside partners, to develop toolkits and resources for industry companies.
The Advancing Industry Belonging Subcommittee helps shape a bike industry where all professionals feel welcome, valued, and empowered to contribute. Through shared tools, conversations, and resources, the subcommittee supports companies in building strong teams, fostering meaningful connections, and strengthening the industry's talent pipeline and the business of bikes.
With technological development in the electric bicycle space rapidly outpacing regulatory guidelines, the Technical Standards Working Group brings together experts from across mechanical, electrical, and legal departments within the bike industry to discuss regulatory requirements and ensure that products sold in the United States are high quality and safe for consumers.
The eMTB Working Group focuses on expanding access to natural surface trails and off-road infrastructure for electric mountain bikes. The group works to develop model policies, create and execute policy strategies, and provide education and resources that support sensible eMTB access nationwide. The group also identifies opportunities, addresses access challenges, and creates strategies that empower the bike industry to promote and grow responsible eMTB ridership.
The Apparel Working Group is a coalition of leading fashion and apparel brands within the bicycling industry that are committed to advancing policies and practices that support a strong apparel sector. The group works jointly to develop, align, and implement policies that address critical issues such as trade and tariff concerns, environmental sustainability, diversifying participation in cycling, supply chain transparency and more.
