Activating Support for Building Bike Infrastructure

Publication Year:

2018

Summary:

Our newly released research is the deepest dive yet into public perceptions of bikes and mobility.

Building a safe, interconnected network of protected bike lanes depends on gaining the support of people who only occasionally bike or never bike at all. Recent consumer research commissioned by PeopleForBikes shows how to build a common value proposition among bike advocates and the wider public. The research not only illuminates where Americans stand on the issue, but also how to move them toward greater investment by showing how bike infrastructure can help them accomplish a wide range of personal, social and economic goals.

Use these insights to grow support in your community. Follow the links below to access the research summary and view a recent presentation on the findings, given by Kyle Wagenschutz, PeopleForBikes’ vice president of Local Innovation, and Rich Neimand of Neimand Collaborative. We’ve also included resources to help you navigate conversations with voters and policymakers, including a public photo archive of bike infrastructure on Flickr.
